Eric Young

Instructor

Eric holds a Bachelor’s degree in Game Art & Design from the Art Institute of San Diego, in addition to a Bachelor’s degree in Media Arts: Animation from Platt College. He’s skilled in drawing and all aspects of traditional and 3D animation (including rigging, storyboarding, stop motion animation, 3D modeling, character design, and video editing), as well as game development and comic book creation, and is proficient in multiple softwares and programs such as 3DS Max, Maya, Unity, Procreate, Adobe Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.), Final Cut Pro, and Toon Boom Studio. To date, he has fourteen years of industry experience, including but not limited to: contract animation at Soldak Entertainment, Goon Studios and Animal LLC; animator at Sony Online Entertainment and Majesco Studios; Lead Animator at ZYA (Music Mastermind); and Visual Effects Supervisor for Drip Documentary. He’s worked on multiple titles, including such recognized ones as Depths of Peril, Midnight Club Los Angeles, Our House, Wonder World Amusement Park, Song Battles, and Everquest – Secrets of Faydwer. 

As an educator, Eric spent four years at the Laguna College of Art and Design, teaching 2D Game Development, Rigging & Animation, and Visual Storytelling. He is a certified Maya Animation Instructor at 3DTraining.com, and teaches Unity Game Design, Unity VR, and Animation as a summer camp instructor at Digital Media Academy. He has a special place in his heart for all his students, both current and former, and enjoys watching his students excel at concepts he’s taught them and apply to their own work. In his free time, Eric enjoys drawing and animating, working on independent game projects, and is currently in the process of creating a series of STEAM-based children’s story books!
