A lifelong student with a true passion for learning and a voracious interest in all things games and digital media, Michael holds an associate’s degree in Applied Science (Computer Programming) and a Database Specialist Certification from Lane Community College. He’s experienced in a variety of fields, including aerospace, biotechnology, game development, and the fundamentals of logic and data structures; likewise, he specializes in multiple programs and coding languages. Unity, Adobe Creative Suite, Autodesk, Fusion 360, Fritzing, Construct 2, InfluxDB, Grafana, C#, C++, SQL, and Python (primarily for Raspberry Pi and Arduino) are but a few of these!
Prior to his career at Game-U, Michael began work in the aerospace industry as a manual machine operator, mastering CAD techniques and learning how to design tooling and gauges for complex manufacturing processes for the Department of Defense. Next, he explored programming and the biotech industry, employing the power of Unity and a host of other accessible coding tools to solve real-world problems – using model organisms such as the Zebrafish and working with international teams of scientists and engineers to develop devices, assays, and manufacturing processes based on these life forms. Finally, Michael turned his dreams into reality when he founded his indie game development company, Heart Squid Studios. Currently, he’s studying (independently!) generative adversarial networks and AI!
In his spare time, Michael enjoys making (and, of course, playing!) video games, has a passion for inventing useful gadgets and tools, loves to ride fast machines, and is looking forward to green and greener technology.
