In the spotlight this month is our Morristown and Piscataway instructor, Ben Siegel! A member of the Game-U team for almost two years, Ben has made wide use of his talents – teaching in Red Bank, covering a class in Fair Lawn or Staten Island, or even supervising game nights in Flemington!
In addition to his easy adaptability to a wide range of responsibilities, Ben comes with an expert’s knowledge in a variety of software, including Unity, Blender, Construct, Final Cut Pro, and more! This spectrum of skills is due in large part, supervisor Andrew Byun says, to Benās eagerness to learn, enthusiasm for games, and passion for teaching.
Another one of Ben’s admirable qualities is his ability to immediately connect with people and put them at ease with the welcome in his voice. His expression lights up – whether he’s meeting with a familiar face, or a complete stranger! He has the gift of instant inclusion, making people feel a part of something larger, and this attitude translates very well for his students, who feel immediately welcome.

Ben’s students are always assured of a safe space to talk about their interests in games, music, etc., and know Ben will encourage them to incorporate those ideas and personal interests into their classwork. Likewise, when they face challenges, they trust Ben to get on their level, work with them to figure out the problem, and encourage them to keep at it. Check out this project of Joshua M.’s, one of Ben’s students, made in the sprite editor Piskel!
Keep up the great work, Ben! We’re happy to have you here at Game-U.
