Game-U Accelerate Classes are now Online.
This is the Game-U Plan for Online Classes:
Our lessons are still one-to-one, live lessons using either Zoom video calls, Slack video calls, or in some cases Facetime video calls. Lessons are still conducted exactly the same way, with instructors and students able to share their screens for each other to view and learn from. Since our mission is to teach games development (coding, 3d modeling, animation, game design), it lends itself perfectly to this online format. The only difference is everyone can work from their home safely.
Furthermore, we’re actually seeing a few extra benefits during this time:
1. All of our students are being invited to join our Slack workspace, which is essentially a large chat room that we use internally for all employees to message each other. This is allowing students to be able to maintain consistent contact with their instructors during this crisis, and helps to include them in a community of other like-minded game developers and students. So far the excitement from students and parents about this has been really great to see!
2. We feel strongly that our students learning how to become adept at navigating online communication, online learning, and ultimately online collaboration and development is key to them being a big part of this 21st century economy. Despite the looming crisis, they now have the opportunity to come out of this with a broader set of interests and abilities.
The response from families has been overwhelmingly positive thus far, with over 75% of our students and families joining us online already. We’d like to ensure that everyone has this opportunity to keep learning, as this crisis may take much longer to subside than originally thought.
