Meet Lauren! She’s an artist extraordinaire working with instructor Zack as part of Game-U’s Accelerate program. Lauren’s love for anime inspired her to overcome significant challenges that thwarted the full expression of her creativity and talent. Now she’s the author of The Healing Art of Anime: A Coloring Book for All Ages, available on Amazon. Check out Lauren and Zack’s latest project!
Since Lauren’s interests lie in drawing, anime, comics, and (of course) video games, Zack helps her create digital media to share with the world. Lauren’s now branching into new territory with her character model sheet, which features a male rather than female figure. Usually, Lauren prefers to draw females, and she’s never put a model sheet (a character study utilized by animators) together before either. But her work shows that she’s risen to the occasion!
When Lauren settled down to draw, she started with her character’s lines. She captured his figure from two different angles by including a front and back view. Multiple angles and positions are important details when animating a character! Once Lauren finished the lines, she moved on to coloring. Zack introduced Lauren to digital palettes and the quick access they offer to project-specific “paints.” These paints, in Lauren’s skillful hands, then developed her character from a lightly built male warrior to a black-haired young man with fair skin and a preference for gray and red armor. He’s got personality and a braid. All this from some colors and lines! Good work, Lauren!
More of Lauren’s Game-U work is showcased on DeviantArt, where she and Zack upload all her finished projects: https://sassyandme.deviantart.com/. Thanks for sharing your creations with us, Lauren! We’re excited for your future!
