Remember Avi? He works with instructor Erica as part of Game-U’s New Jersey Accelerate program. Avi’s created all sorts of game dev projects in tools like GameMaker, Project Spark, TinkerCAD, and Sculptris. Now’s he ventured into web development to create an online portfolio for all his work!
Using Wix, a graphical website editor, Avi and Erica began designing the layout of Avi’s portfolio site. For the home page, Avi provided a navigation bar, a site introduction, a photo gallery, and even an inspiring quote with the help of Wix’s content modules. To share his projects, he also added a blog page, where a newsfeed of images and excerpts from his recent posts displays. Beneath the preview of each post, he included a “Read More,” button, which the user clicks to see the post in its entirety. A horizontal row of thumbnail links at the bottom of the blog page makes it easy for site visitors to view and access the latest posts quickly, without scrolling. Once Avi completed his site’s layout, he got to work supplying the content.
Over the course of his time at Game-U, Avi’s explored 3D modeling, coding, and game design. He’s got a long list of projects that he and Erica used to build his skills. With Erica there to provide assistance if needed, Avi wrote summaries of his major projects and shared photos or videos of his work on his blog page. He even arranged a photo gallery of his 3D models! As Avi continues to complete projects in class, he writes a blog post about each and explains the steps he took to achieve the finished product. He’s not only keeping a record of his lessons, which he can reference in the future, but he’s also giving everyone else the chance to follow along as he becomes a game designer and 3D modeler!
Thanks for sharing your website with us, Avi! We’re excited to see your progress and understand more about what you learn in class. Keep up the good work!
