Game-U Art Zone: September 2020!
With environment topics, linear perspective, animation (penguin sledding!), learning six ways to create the illusion of depth on a 2D surface, and more, Game-U’s artists once again are diving deep!
2D Art: Foundations & Explorations
After exploring the vagaries of atmospheric perspective, our artists “zoomed out” to get a better look at all the ways to create the illusion of depth on a 2D surface. Studying presentations, acing quizzes, making underwater seascapes (look at the wee turtles!), and taking “pop sketches” where they have to quickly sketch out a demonstration of one method or another – all of that and more leads into this unit’s conclusion: an independent painting, combining all of the methods into one ultimate spatial masterpiece! Stay tuned!
2D Art: Design & Illustration
Environments, atmospheric perspective, value and color contriving to create the illusion of distance, and more await in Design & Illustration class this month! Check out the elegant perspective lines, dramatic cityscapes, and cubes galore!
2D Art: Digital Techniques
Animation, walk cycles, pancake flipping, penguin sledding – Digital Techniques has it all! Working in Piskel, instructor Cat’s students all animated a masterful project of their own choosing, learning about frames, FPS rates, walk cycles, looping, and – apparently – pancakes! They look good enough to steal off the pan and eat, guys! Well done!
A good month’s work, artists! Be proud of yourselves, and never stop learning!
