Remember Sal? He’s partnered with instructor Jared as part of Game-U’s Accelerate program. Sal loves everything 3D modeling, so in his latest class, he and Jared borrowed a page from Van Gogh’s book and built something beautiful.
Sunflowers sometimes pop up in unexpected places. Today, they popped up in TinkerCAD! TinkerCAD is a web-based 3D modeling tool that allows even young children to design 3D models using basic shapes and some digital magic. Models made in TinkerCAD can be easily exported to a 3D printer, like one of Game-U’s own, and brought to life on the printing plate. Sal and Jared spent the first half of class placing, joining, and resizing shapes to produce a sunflower. Check out the results! Sal also likes Project Spark and game design, of course, so for the second half of class he experimented with nontraditional projectiles. Armies might typically fire bullets or missiles, and legends say that dragons breathe fire, but not when Sal’s in command. Confetti and bat swarms are his weapons of choice! Jared even showed Sal how to swap characters’ “brains” so that the brain of Sal’s player could be inside one of the dragons. Project Spark lets game developers get creative!
Great stuff, guys. Sal’s class clearly has a lot of imagination at work, and we love hearing about all the cool things he builds. Keep us updated!
