Meet Sal! Sal’s part of our Accelerate program here at Game-U, and he’s teamed up with Jared, one of our instructors. Ever drawn a model and wished you could make it tangible? Ever toy with an idea that needs more than paper or clay or wood to make it real? Sal knows how to take those dreams and bring them to life! Usually, he and Jared work on Ark – that’s a game that can be added to using the gaming engine Unreal – but today, Sal wanted to mix things up. He and Jared jumped straight into 3D printing! Together, they did a little research on the subject, checking out videos of the printers in action, and watching a compilation of alternative creations. Sal is a big Batman fan (you’re not alone, Sal!), and knew exactly what he wanted to print. So Jared showed him how to use Tinkercad, a digital modeling studio, to “tinker” with shapes until he achieved just the right shape for his project. Can you guess what project Sal had in mind? A nameplate with the Batman logo! Sal can’t wait to print his nameplate so he can give it to his father. Shh, don’t say anything, we don’t want to spoil the surprise! But we’re all pleased Sal shared a photo of his creation with us so we can get a cool preview. Looking forward to seeing the finished product, Sal!
