Congratulations, victors! Andrew Byun and his NJ Team emerge triumphant! It was a close run all the way through, with the final score breathtakingly close! But in the end, it all came down to this:
NJ: 24 – NY | OH: 22
Meet the contenders! Team Clint (representing New York and Ohio) and Team Andrew (representing New Jersey) faced off in our grand Minecraft Battle Royale, a creative build-out challenge lasting an epic four hours! The challenge itself was simple, with two paths to victory – teams could make either the “Game-U of the Future” or a replica of a famous place or building. Everyone started on equal footing, with no asset importation permitted, with unforeseen obstacles waiting for them during their journey. And what a journey!
Team NJ, under Andrew’s lead, built their plot around a Game-U Theme Park, where you can explore by foot or in style via a cart ride on a track! Throughout the park, there are a variety of video game references, such as the Pokeball, Tri-Force, the Super Smash Bro.’s logo (on fire per the genuine article, I might add!) a Nintendo Switch, and more. See if you can spot them all in the gallery above!
There’s also a multitude of Game-U references: the logo in the back, a Blink Statue of Liberty, a separate (floating!) Blink head, a futuristic studio with floating monitors, and even a “G FOR GAME-U” banner. Not content with that, Andrew and his team added even more objects of interest, such as an awesome castle/dungeon, floating fountains, and a water pyramid beacon at the end of the ride!
Team NY | OH, directed by Clint, went big: they created a truly massive Blink monument! In a twist worthy of any movie, you’re actually able to go inside and take a rollercoaster ride down, inside a mine-cart! When you ride along the tracks, you’ll see little classrooms, indicating that Monument Blink doubles as a Game-U studio himself.
The end of the ride shoots you out of Blink and directly to a 1:1, exact replica of the Lynbrook studio, complete with precise chair placement and a makeshift computer! At one point, as part of a challenge, our COO/CLO and co-founder Andre Hewitt was breaking the underground area of NY’s plot, and made a hole directly below our Blink Statue. Instead of closing the hole back up, the NY | OH team rose to the occasion and created a small statue of … indeterminate … nature with a tophat and monocle, to plug in the hole! (Way to think on the fly, Team Clint!) In addition to their own logo gallery, Team Clint paid homage to one of their home states in the form of an orange floating NY State (see gallery for pictures!), complete with blue blocks indicating Game-U’s NY locations.
There is also, for reasons undisclosed but no doubt impressive, a memorial statue of a duck. Don’t ask why.

We had an amazing turnout, and numerous spectators both in Minecraft and on our Youtube livestream of the event. Check out the gallery above, and keep an eye out for a highlight reel, coming soon!
All in all, very well played, contenders!
