Meet Thomas! He’s one of our Accelerate students here at Game-U. Thomas has been working with one of our instructors, Mike M., and they’d like to share what they worked on today. Ever mess around with cars? Thomas has! He and Mike modelled a car in Probuilder (a tool in the gaming engine, Unity)using a reference image. Thomas picked up the technique quickly, and the model turned out great. Thomas improved his technique manipulating complex objects, and he learned how to use the mirror tool. (Bet you can guess what that does!) The mirror tool let Thomas model half an object – in this case, the car – and then copy it on an axis to finish the model. Thanks to mirroring, Thomas worked more efficiently, and his finished product is now symmetrical as well. At the end of the lesson, Thomas and Mike wrote a short piece of code that tells the car to drive forward and back. Next class, they plan to finish the car control code and start building a track for it! Check out Thomas and Mike’s work in the video. That car looks fantastic, Thomas!
