Catch up with Game-U’s creative writers! This month, instructor Dakota and his students have been exploring sensational stories – in more ways than one!

Dakota led his class through Kernel Sentences, a quick exercise to warm up the brain and help students practice writing descriptively.
Once students completed that, they dug down into the main body of this month’s project: focusing on the use of the five senses in descriptions. Check out some of the prompts and projects in the pictures!
Of course, it wasn’t all work and no play. Game-U devotee and student extraordinaire Fox K. – who, by the way, is having so much fun with his story that by now it’s eight chapters long, averaging about six pages per chapter and holding place as the longest thing Fox says he’s ever written! Way to go, kiddo! – played the now infamous “pigging” prank on Dakota via his webcam! Not to be outdone, Dakota plotted his comeback, lulling Fox into forgetting his mischievous deed – right up until he pulled a video of no fewer than three pigs, shared his screen, and “pigged” Fox right back! Fox, ever the excellent sport, admits that Dakota “got him good”. (Writing did actually happen, despite these hijinks. We promise.)
A large part of what makes creative writing so appealing is its playfulness. Keep having fun, you guys – sometimes, that’s what sensational stories are for.
