Storyboards & Screenwriting
Delia G. – artist, character designer, long-time Accelerate student, and all-around awesome person – has discovered a new passion – writing!
Delia and instructor Anna are taking a methodical approach to this project series. First, Delia brainstorms and writes a complete typed script; they then translate that draft into a storyboard like the one below, taking key moments and incorporating them into as few panels as possible.
Delia has a real knack for exciting plots and an attention to detail, poring over her word choices to make sure she hits the right notes. Anna’s showing her a few tricks, like reading the script aloud to catch mistakes (they called it “story time” since she was reading to Anna!), keeping her sentences all in the same tense, and how important body language is to storyboards and how they can use it to help tell the story!
Delia shared with Anna about how she feels about writing, and how cool it is that she’s learning how to make these things. She’s even considering a screenwriting career, and wants to study at Game-U for it to see if it’s what she wants to do.
Whatever you end up doing, Delia, don’t forget – you’re amazing, and you can do anything you put your mind to.
