Student of the Month – October 2020!

Meet Colin F., Game-U’s Student of the Month for October!
You might remember Colin from September’s Student Spotlight. Well, Colin is still rocking it – in Teen.Code and his other Game-U classes! According to his instructors, he continues to look for ways to challenge himself and do more, and he’s always ready and willing to do whatever he can to help other students.
Just last month, he knocked off ten badges in a week; the month before that, he finished the “Show Off” achievement for our Voyager Robotics class, walked the class through a JAVA program that he wrote for a course challenge problem (which only three of the other students in the class were able to complete correctly!), and volunteered to explain his code in detail, with added comments and examples readily given when asked. He’s continued to work on new JAVA code projects even after the unit ended, teaching himself concepts that go beyond even the lessons in class. More recently, he and another student worked on an independent project outside of class, writing a JAVA discord bot and then sharing the results with class – which inspired their friends to do the same!
Now, moving into the new month, Colin’s enthusiasm remains undimmed – he’s even taking a leadership role in Robotics’ newest project, the affectionately nicknamed “SWS” (Skittle Web Service), which got its own surprise visit from Game-U’s CTO. Likewise, in Teen.Code, he and classmates are working in Brackets with Mrs. Rebecca to put together and publish a portfolio of all their amazing coding projects to date!
Amazing work, Colin! Your enthusiasm, eagerness to learn, independence, initiative, scholarly attitude, and willingness to help is and continues to be an inspiration. You deserve this!
