Explorer Game Design

In this course, students learn hands-on about all the major aspects of Games Development, such as Level Design, Character Design, Programming, Materials, Lighting, Audio, using multiple Game Development Editors, such as Project Spark™, an exciting new 3D Game Development Editor. From month to month, students will be introduced to new tools to help round out their skills and inspire them to continue learning.

Students can create fully immersive worlds, complete with character and object interaction. Many different styles of games are able to be created, from 3rd Person Adventure to First Person to Top Down and more!

Each week, we’ll be tackling new Design challenges such as how to create and code Capture the Flag scenarios, Object quests, and more!

Explorer Video Game Design, Coding & Minecraft Modding Jr.

From month to month, students will be introduced to new tools to help round out their skills and inspire them to continue learning. Students can create fully immersive worlds, complete with character and object interaction. Explorer students will also learn Minecraft Modding. Younger students learn to design and create their own Minecraft modifications by using age-appropriate, easy to understand methods. They can even share their creations with friends in multiplayer!

Traditional Art

Traditional Art: This class focuses on the key elements of art, allowing students to learn to exercise and express their creativity successfully through a medium of their choice. Students will learn foundational concepts such as value, line, space, and figure/gesture drawing, among others. Students will also explore a variety of mediums and projects as they progress. No experience required!

Kids.Code

Flemington, NJ

Kids.Coders learn the power of code by building apps, websites, games, and more! This co-ed class teaches students how to write, edit, and troubleshoot code in age-appropriate software. By applying universal programming principles to hands-on projects, students learn how professional programmers harness the code that drives modern technology.

Explorer Robotics Class (Robo Quest)

Learn Engineering and Robotics skills through hands on experiences with the Lego Mindstorms EV3 system. Participants will create robots and learn programing basics. After learning the basics participants will work in small groups to overcome engineering design challenges. The challenges will help build key life skills of cooperation and critical thinking while also developing engineering understanding using problem solving skills and the design process. Challenges will be varied to meet the needs of all learners and interest levels.

This includes the 2 hour weekly class, use of our Lego Mindstorm robots & Entry into the Lego Competitions. Game-U will sponsor, mentor and help the students create robots and learn programming skills to prepare for Lego League Challenges in Ohio. Lego League teams research a real-world problem and are challenged to develop a solution. They must design, build, and program a robot using the Lego Mindstorms technology, then compete on a table-top.

From month to month, students will be introduced to new tools to help round out their skills and inspire them to continue learning. They can even share their creations with friends in multiplayer!

2D Art and Illustration

This class will cover the basics of 2D Art and Illustration. We will cover traditional drawing fundamentals, tips, and techniques that we will then apply to digital art programs. We will cover learning digital art programs and drawing traditionally in order to create characters, environments, UI art, and more! This class will give you the foundation you need not only to make better art for your games- but better art in general.
