Voyager Game Design Ramp-Up (EDT)
Online
Voyager Ramp-Up is the starting point for any student who wants to use the Unity 3D game engine. Students will learn how to make a project, navigate the editor, code a simple script in C#, and work in 3D space. After this 4 week course, students will be ready to enter into a full Voyager Game Dev class.
Voyager Game Design (EDT)
Online
Voyager introduces kids to the world of 3D game development using professional-level tools. Students will use Unity(with C#), a 3D game engine that thousands of popular games use today, to craft experiences in the third dimension. The Voyager classes will introduce topics such as collections, materials, lighting, and 3D modeling. At the end of each two-month unit, students will have a finished game that feels unlike anything else they’ve made before.
Game Dev Team (EDT)
Online
The Game Dev Team program, formerly known as GameWerx, is a separate initiative available to the Pioneer, Voyager, and Pathfinder classes. In this self-driven program, students join teams under the supervision and guidance of their Game-U instructor and work to reproduce the professional game development process, from planning to publishing – all to bring their own unique games to fruition!
Voyager 3D Art & Design (EDT)
Online
Voyager allows students to dive straight into 3D modeling for movies and games! Using Blender, a free professional 3D modeling program, students will learn how to edit, transform, texture, and animate 3D art. A two-month unit will involve making characters, environments, and props. After each unit, students will be able to show off a fully rendered project.
Voyager Robotics (EDT)
Online
Learn engineering and robotics through virtual and, when possible, hands-on experiences with age-appropriate equipment. Participants will study the basics of robotic programming, electrical circuitry, and mechanical design – by building their own robot! After mastering the foundations, participants will be set a variety of engineering design challenges, each with their own set of circumstances and requirements for the student to overcome. These unique tasks, designed to meet the needs of all learners and interest levels, will foster mastery of engineering and the design process, as well as help develop key critical thinking and problem-solving skills applicable to all areas of life. Come on in and build!
Open Lab (EDT)
Online
Open Labs are available free of charge to current students. While no lessons are taught in Labs, students have the opportunity to work on achievement badges, ask questions, watch makeup videos, improve on current projects, and work on side projects, all under the supervision of an instructor.
STEM Open Lab (EDT)
